Benefits
UT Dallas provides generous medical, dental, life insurance, and other benefits (see Human Resources for the complete package), but as a retiree you can also:
- Get a Retiree Comet Card, which is required for some of the benefits below. See the Comet Card Office.
- All employees are highly encouraged to turn in their Comet Card when leaving UTD.
- All retirees are qualified to get a Comet Card at no cost once a PEARL checkout is received or the persons database record reflects retiree status.
- Keep your University email address (e.g. jane.doe@utdallas.edu).
- Apply to park on campus as a UTD Retiree. This Retiree permit, when approved, allows parking in Green, Gold and Remote parking spots. A $2 annual handling fee applies for a Retiree permit. Non-members pay staff rates. You can download the parking permit request form (PDF).
- Purchase a gym membership for the UT Dallas Activity Center at the faculty/staff rate via Marketplace.
- Enroll in academic courses without charge if you are over 64 and space is available. Fees are not waived. Contact the Registrar for more information.
- See information regarding Audit Courses and Credit Courses at these links.
- Attend cultural events at the faculty/staff rate (and sometimes free) upon presentation of your Comet Card.
- Purchase discounted tickets for sporting events, movies, and other events. See all the offers, and options for purchase, on the Comet Card website.
- Get student-rate discounts at several local businesses and eateries.
- Comet intercollegiate athletic contests are free to retirees with a Comet Card.
- Check out up to five (5) books at one time from the McDermott Library with your Comet Card.
- Purchase discounted computer software from the campus bookstore with your Comet Card and UTD email address.
- Receive the exclusive UTD Retiree Membership Directory. Stay in touch!
Many of these benefits were recommended to the University by UTD RA. Although all retirees (RA members and non-members) are eligible for most of these benefits, you might consider joining UTD RA to encourage further recommendations.
